This year Black & Decker, one of the world’s most famous power tool brands, is celebrating its centenary. The company is the world’s largest producer of power tools and accessories as well as manufacturing and marketing its products globally.
It was founded in 1910 by two entrepreneurs based in Baltimore, Maryland – S Duncan Black and Alonzo G Decker. Starting life as a small machine shop, they soon patented a new drill design and started to expand, acquiring other companies and becoming listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
